Principal investigator opportunities in neuroscience

Are you ready to establish your own independent research program in neuroscience?

At the VIB-KU Leuven Center for Neuroscience in Leuven, Belgium, we offer opportunities for ambitious researchers to develop their scientific independence in a collaborative, multidisciplinary research environment.

Researchers can join our Center as VIB Group Leaders through joint recruitment with KU Leuven or, in specific circumstances, establish themselves as independent investigators through the VIB Fellows program.

Become a VIB Group Leader

We regularly work with KU Leuven to recruit outstanding researchers for new VIB Group Leader positions, combined with tenure-track KU Leuven professorships.

As a VIB Group Leader, you become part of an international neuroscience community bringing together complementary expertise across fundamental and disease-focused neuroscience.

Open Group Leader and principal investigator positions are announced through our vacancies and the relevant VIB and KU Leuven recruitment channels.

Join us as a VIB Fellow

Researchers who obtain an ERC Starting Grant may also have the opportunity to join the VIB-KU Leuven Center for Neuroscience through the VIB Fellows program.

VIB Fellows are independent, non-tenure-track VIB principal investigators. The position is distinct from a VIB Group Leader appointment and provides an opportunity to establish an independent research program within our scientific environment.

Fellows are embedded in our research community and gain access to VIB technology suites and core facilities, alongside opportunities to interact and collaborate with researchers across the Center and the wider VIB and Leuven ecosystems..
